Once more
A year on since I did my first YEP project, I'm going overseas yet again. I'm now waiting to board the plane with 30 minutes left to departure. I know things will be a little different this time round, living in much tougher conditions than the previous trip. I'm having mixed feelings about this trip, excited at the possibility of having a great learning experience while at the same time reluctant to leave the comfort of home. There are many things that I have to leave behind in Singapore, many things to sacrifice.
Today marks the culmination of 10 months of preparation. I left house early to do the final packing in school. It's yet another sacrifice in the course of this project and seeing everyone carrying heavy backpacks filled with team logistics, I am reminded once again how much we had done for this trip. Hopefully, things will go well over in Cambodia and our effort will be recognised and appreciated by the locals. I do not know how things have improved since my last trip to the Philippines but I feel that we have done something useful, no matter how minute, to change their lives. I know that I will have the opportunities to experience and learn many things in this trip. It's up to me to make full use of these opportunities. I am sure that I will come back a better person and be able to share my experiences with everyone else.
