Sand, sea and the sun
I went for a field trip to Changi Beach on Friday as a Biodiversity practical. Jiesheng had already told me that it would be fun and it turned out to be just as he said. However, unlike him, the weather for my practical was quite fine. Except for a brief shower, the weather was quite sunny most of the time. Zhenyun, one of my lab group mates was so afraid of getting blackened by the sun's rays that she was squatting most of the time. It was quite stupid but i think it works because she didn't seem to get any darker. Only a few of us went down to the sea to harvest our prey. I was supposed to go down but for some reason I did not manage to go. We caught quite a variety of marine organisms and some of them are so weird that they don't seem to belong to this planet. There are many creatures that I have not seen in my entire life and they are just residing off the shore in Changi. I think I have not explored Singapore enough. I do not have any pictures of those animals that we captured but among the most unique ones are comb jellies that look like Konniyaku, Moon crabs that can burrow very quickly, a fish that has both its eyes on the same side, parasite infested crabs that are living zombies and a sea hare which looks like a giant slug with many green dots on its body. It was an enriching experience and it increases my interest in taking Biology. It will be so much fun going on all these field trips every now and then.
