Time, Relationships and the City

I watched a few films during my film art module that touched on these topics. The most memorable one would be Chungking Express. There's a line in the movie that goes : "Everyday you meet many people on the streets. Some may become your friends or even your confidants but most will just be strangers." There is this concept that keeps recurring and it is called urban loneliness which is an oxymoron because we are living in such close proximity to each other but yet we feel lonely. And this loneliness is exarcebated by the very fact that there's always people around you. People are always in such close proximity to one another but as the lecturer says, being close physically doesn't mean being close emotionally. As such, I have figured out some probabilities for meeting the girl of your dreams.

Probability of finding a female: 1 in 2

finding a female in the right age group: 1 in 10

a female that is attractive: 1 in 10

an attractive female that is not attached: 1 in 5

a female who can connect to you : 1 in 100

a female who likes you for who you are: 1 in 100

Multiplying these probabilties will give the probability of finding a dream girl at around one in a million. Sometimes I wonder why everyone will most probably end up getting married. Is the one they are with really the one they love and whom truly loves them?
