Divorced
My printer had been with me for a few years already. It's a HP inkjet printer. Even though it prints really slow, up to 5 mins for one page, I still stuck with it because I have some feelings for it. It is also quite a high-maintenance object because the ink cartridges get used up pretty fast and they cost over 50 dollars each. Because I am cheapskate, I decided to buy third party ink last semester at the Science bazaar. The person selling the refills to me made refilling out to be so easy, just put in the needles, squeeze the aerosol can and the refilling will be done. Because they cost a lot less than the original ink cartridges from HP, I bought both the colour and black ink catridges. I found out with my own hands how much trouble refilling can be. Without fail, every time I refill there will be some ink overflowing and my hands will be stained with a myriad of colours. Despite the mess, I still continued using the refills because of the cost factor. I also discovered that the black ink is of low quality. The ink is so faint that it looks like grey. I also tolerated it and stuck to printing grey and white notes on my slow printer. However, something happened just now that made me change my mind. My printer had been irritating me for days already with the printer ink low light constantly flickering. I had refilled both cartridges but it still kept on flickering. In a last attempt to slavage the situation, I decided to try once more. This time though, when I put the aerosol can to the cartridge and tried to refill, ink exploded out from the can. My hands were hit and even my face, together with my specs was not spared. My whole table and a part of my wall too were hit. I had a hard time cleaning up. This was the final straw and I decided to change to a new printer. No more 0.2 pages per minutes rates and messy refills. I threw away my ink refills and with it, my love affair with my printer.
