The end of it all
I haven't been blogging for some time now. It isn't because of a lack of topics or a lack of time but rather a general lethargy towards typing on the computer. Just to update, I just came back from China. Before going to China, I had a platoon chalet. And before the chalet, I attended orientation camp. Before orientation, I went to KL. So I had been pretty busy. I'm too lazy to write down everything that i experienced during these past few weeks, unlike jie sheng who documented every single event during orientation. I will just briefly go through the events of the past few weeks. KL was pretty fun even though there were only 5 pple who went. 3 adults and 2 kids. Me, Ho teck and Wee Siang were the 3 old men. Shicai and his friend were the 2 small boys. His friend was pretty normal compared to Shicai. We were surprised that he had black hair unlike Shicai whose hair is a myriad of colors. He also looks like Deyu. Anyway, we did mostly shopping in KL. The adults shop alone and the kids shop alone, in the kids department. We shopped and shopped until there are no more shopping centres left for us to shop. We also visited KLCC and went up to the connecting bridge and took in the view of KL city for 5 mins. It's a total waste of time and money because KL looks ugly. Besides, I have already went up to the bridge before. We also made another wasted trip up to Genting. However, this time, the kids did not go with us, which was a good thing, because we went into the casino. We didn't gamble at all in the casino. We didn't have the money to do so. The minimum bet was 50rm. We left the casino and bought tickets for the theme park. However, it was foggy and most of the rides were closed. We managed to take a ride on the tower of horrors. We were dropped down from about 10 storeys high. It was the scariest tower ride i took even though i've tried it countless times in other countries. I do not know why it felt so scary at that time. Maybe it was because i was looking down and the tower was situated at the top of a hill. I had wanted to take the Spiderman ride but it was closed. All in all, the theme park ticket was a waste of money because we only managed to take a few rides. Luckily, the rest of the trip was good. We enjoyed ourselves to the max, eating good food and buying cheap stuff. If there was any regret, it would be that there were only 3 of us during the trip. More people would have been more fun. After the trip, i went for Scamp. It was pretty fun although the first few days weren't really good. We had to play orientation games but I didn't really enjoy some of the games. I have never really enjoyed icebreaker games, i guess. Anyway, the rest of the camp was much more fun. It was more fun after I got to know a few more friends besides Jiesheng who happened to be in the same OG even after we tried our best not to be together. Fright night was memorable as we played in Old Changi Hospital. It was pretty eerie in there. The actors and actresses did pretty well also even though their sense of direction is pretty bad. Overall, the atmosphere was good. I was more scared of the environment than by the actors. The place really looks haunted, especially the staircases. I wouldn't go there alone at night. Fright night was on the 3rd day. The next day, we went to Sentosa. The games were pretty good. But it was embarassing for us guys as we had makeup on, courtesy of the sadistic girls in our group. That night, we met our SPs also and went to club Momo later on. The Sp night wasn't fun as I felt awkward talking with my Sp. Clubbing wasn't really fun also. I guess it's not my cup of tea. We left on the 5th day. We took some photos and had lunch in BK before breaking off. I then went for my platoon chalet even though I felt like a dead man walking after being deprived of sleep during the camp. It felt good being together as a platoon. The bonds that were built over 2 years of crap were strong. We watched Argentina lose to Germany in the quarters. I had betted on Argentina and was happy for 80 mins. We then went back to sleep and I left early cos I had to leave for China. It had been a great chalet even though I didn't go for the whole duration. I collected our platoon DVD from Songshu and watched it before going to the airport. It was funny watching all the stupid things we did. I'm glad we had videos to remind us of the past. Anyway, China was not bad. I had feared for the worst when my father said he wanted to go to China. I hate the mainland Chinese. Everyone who knows me knows that. I suspect my father knows too. I think they are rude, cunning, despicable, greedy, uncouth etc etc. I went to Shanghai before and left disgusted with the Shanghainese. So I wasn't too enthusiastic about going to China. However, the trip was not what i had made it up to be. Yes, the Chinese are still an irritating bunch of people but the tour guide was good. The scenery in China was good also, especially the palaces. The emperors sure know how to enjoy themselves. They all had 81 wives and concubines. If I happened to be born as an emperor, life would be soooo good. The palaces are so damn big that they seem like small cities. That's the thing about China. Everything is so damn big and extravagant. They just like to show off. Climbing the great wall was also a great experience. It was humbling trying to catch my breath as i climbed the steep stairs. It was also demoralising, realising that I only climbed a tiny part of the wall. I can only marvel at the great piece of engineering that the Chinese did. The chinese are bastards but they sure are good. I also visited an undergound great wall. It's actually an underground shelter built to withstand nuclear attacks. It was built during 1969 to 1979 when Russia and China were enemies. I was also amazed by the ability of the chinese to build the tunnel using only simple tools. The tunnel is 16m deep at its lowest point and it stretches longer than the great wall if layed out in a straight line. The tunnel is not airconditioned but it feels cool. I also visited the summer palace in Chengde. And it was grand also. The emperor recreated places which he had gone before in his palace. It was also very extravagant. Overall, the trip is informative and enjoyable. I only have 3 complaints. The first one is the food which is bloody salty. If i had stayed there any longer, I would have gotten kidney failure. The second are the salespeople. They will do anything to make you buy their goods. They kept on sweettalking all of us and I cannot stand it. I just hate people who por. Except Guo Xin. Thethird compaint is the traffic which doesn't care about rules. I feared for my life whenever i crossed the road. Actually, as I write, I realised I got many more complaints. I hate the cigarette smokers in China, which is just about everyone. They light up everywhere and anywhere and I had to hold my breath everywhere and anywhere. I also hate the urine smell in the toilets. No matter how clean the toilet is, there will always be a urine smell. And China urine smells horrible. I also hate watching the World Cup in China. Chinese commentary sucks. The entertainment value of the match drops by 50% when the commentary is in Chinese.
End of the day, I guess i still hate China. The trip merely reduces my hatred by 10 %.
