Sad
I stayed up this morning to catch the second leg of the semi final between AC Milan and Manchester United. It was a really disappointing match, from the viewpoint of a Manchester United fan. Manchester United were totally outclassed, outplayed and outrunned. Milan were in another planet. Their midfield of Pirlo, Kaka, Gattuso and Seedorf were playing around the United players with their swift passes and clever interchange of positions. I have never seen Manchester United being played around like that before. The ball stuck like magnet to the Milan players. United were left chasing shadows. It's a harsh footballing lesson for Manchester United, especially for Cristiano Ronaldo. There's still some way to go before we can be called the best in Europe and a long way for Ronaldo to be the best player in the world. I thought Ronaldo was trying to do too much on his own and being too arrogant. What was the point of doing fancy tricks when they don't come off at all. Kaka taught him what he has to do to be the best in the business. He dictated the play from the minute the whistle went and he was a threat whenever he got the ball. He was not selfish as well, releasing players when he could. Ronaldo has a lot to learnt. This was the saddest match I have ever watched. It wasn't because we were simply outclassed but because we did not do anything about it. I did not see any effort from any of the United players. The passing was sloppy and there was no desire to get the ball back. Gattuso showed them what a United player should be like, winning every 50-50 ball. There was no leadership at all in the side, no one willing to inspire the rest to have a real go at the Italians. It was a match that made me really sad. The saddest thing in life is not when you lose, it's when you do nothing to win. How true.
