Ramblings
There's nothing much to blog about when you have a lot of free time. There's another week to my final paper and I'm taking it easy these few days.
I've been watching South Park online these days. It's crude and it's vulgar and it gets really sick sometimes. But I still watch it because it's funny and I find the message at the end of each episode very meaningful.
I went to Ken's house today. I have known him for a very long time and yet I have never been to his house. I heard he tortures his guests by not giving them anything to eat. So I decided to check it out for myself today since I have nothing to do and I'm meeting him for lunch. His house was really big. I think it's about five times the size of my house. However, I still prefer my cosy little house to his big but empty house. Together with Shyh Jie, we watched Full Metal Jacket at his house. It was a little disappointing and failed to live up to its reputation. I learnt that the rumours were untrue because Ken offered me his collection of alcoholic drinks that he kept in his room. I only drank a little of it because I am human. He also offered me some chocolate flavoured Pocky that he bought from Korea. I asked him what was the difference between the Korean Pocky and the Singaporean Pocky. He said that the chocolate in the Korean one is richer in taste. I couldn't taste the difference but gave him the benefit of the doubt.
I managed to watch Tsai Ming Liang's 'I don't want to sleep alone' before its screening ended. It was a lot more entertaining than his other film that I watched, Goodbye Dragon Inn. It had a lot more dialogue than GDI and it was way funnier. Some of the scenes were quite absurd and was hilarious. There was a really funny scene of two people trying to have sex while wearing gas masks. It was quite abstract, which was to be expected, but I think the film is primarily about care. I am still a Tsai Ming Liang fan and I will catch his next film.
Spiderman 3 is coming and it's another movie that I want to catch. I like Spiderman better than Superman or Batman and all the other superheroes. I feel that I can better relate to him because he is a superhero with flaws. He has his fears and desires, just like any other human being. The other superheroes are too perfect for my liking.
The examinations so far have gone on quite smoothly. The army did not disturb me and I think I did quite well for the papers. I have had enough time to prepare for each of my paper, unlike last semester. This exam period has been quite relaxed for me.
