Tuesday Blues

I received a SMS from Mindef today reminding me that, from today to next Tuesday, I will be liable for mobilisation. The most likely day for mobilisation will be on Saturday and I just happen to have an examination on Saturday. I will have to report in my Full Battle Order and I do not even have my field pack. Many scenarios are running through my mind now and the worst case scenario is that they call me in the middle of my examination. Can I pick up the phone and answer? Do I finish my paper first before leaving? Do I have enough time to get back home to take my stuff and then report to Selarang Camp? Where can I find a field pack? It's a choice between my future and serving my country. The choice is obviously the former. I think I have served my country well enough for two years and I think they need to give me some respect as well. I have asked to be excused from all this nonsense during my studies but they just ignored my request and went ahead with it anyway. Furthermore, I have been made the I/C and have the added responsibility of calling everyone in my detachment. I thought I could lead a peaceful civilian life after my ORD but those people up there in the SAF just have to disrupt my life. I just have to pray that nothing happens at all during this period and try to concentrate as much as I can on my studies.
