Hyenas
I went for a MRF gathering on Saturday, which is held at Marina South. The purpose of the gathering is supposedly to celebrate Keng Soon's birthday but at the end of the celebrations, I am not sure whether we are celebrating Keng Soon's , Guo Bin's or whoever's birthday. Anyway, the main aim of the gathering is just to catch up with each other so I don't think it really matters whose birthday it is. I do not know why I ended up talking about hyenas during the gathering. Maybe it is because I had watched an episode of 'Wild Sex' in the afternoon where they talked about sexual behaviour in animals. The hyena was featured in the episode I watched and I find them really amazing. The female hyenas have higher levels of male hormones than the male hyenas. As a result of this masculinization, females are a third larger than the males, have more muscle mass, are more aggressive, and have masculinized genitalia. Their vulva is fused to look like a scrotum and testes, and their clitoris is large and looks like a phallus, and can be erected just like a penis. The vagina runs through the pseudo penis. This makes it hard for them to mate and give birth, since they do so through this pseudo penis. It is really up to the imagination how they mate and give birth through the pseudo penis and about 20% of female hyenas die while giving birth to their first children. Below is a graphical representation.
